
PFA Team: Introduction

The mission of the Psychological First Aid (PFA) Team is to respond efficiently and compassionately to individuals experiencing emotional distress during a disaster as well as to cultivate resilience and facilitate recovery in the aftermath of any emergency. In addition, the Team helps train members of the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) and Medical Reserve Corps.
Pre-Disaster Responsibilities
Before the disasterBefore disaster, the Team encourages members of the community to pursue PFA training. It develops protocols for post-disaster activation and deployment. In addition, the Team assists at community events to recruit volunteers. The Team also provides PFA training to CERT members.
Disaster Responsibilities
When activated, the PFA Team responds to assigned Hhubs and Community-Level Meeting Places.
Recovery Responsibilities
During recovery, the team continues to deploy as needed throughout the community to offer support.
