
Logistics Team: Introduction

The mission of the Logistics Team is to respond to resource requests and volunteer contributions during emergencies. The Logistics Team is ralso esponsible for collecting, organizing, and redistributing donated and acquired materials as directed by the Emergency Operations Center (EOC).
Pre-Disaster Responsibilities
Before disaster, the Team supports other teams in building supplies of gear and equipment for the Emergency Operations Center, the Disaster Hubs, and the Community Level Meeting Places such as Severe Weather Shelters, the Disaster Medical Center, the Domestic Animal Care Shelter, and the Child Reunification Center by collecting and distributing donated resources. The Team also works with the community Emergency Manager to create protocols for distribution of resources post-disaster.
In addition, the Team oversees volunteer recruitment and manages the volunteer database, updating it as necessary and tracking lapses in credentialing. The Team issues your volunteer ID badges and works with the local police department to conduct background checks on all volunteers.
Disaster Responsibilities
When activated, the Logistics Team responds to the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) where its operations will be based. Team members will deploy into the field to collect donations and to respond to logistical requests. The Team will also help the Emergency Manager in redistributing donations.
Recovery Responsibilities
During recovery, the team continues to provide logistical support to the EOC and to other teams.
