Child Safety and Reunification Team: Scope of Practice

Mission


To care for and support unaccompanied minors until their approved adult can pick them up


Pre-Disaster Activities


  • Participate in community-sponsored training, drills, and exercises as schedule allows. 


  • Participate in staffing outreach/information booths for community events.


Activation Timeline


48 hours post incident for initial setup, 72 hours post incident for operations  


Post-Disaster Activation


  • Report to the Child Reunification Center (CRC) after a disaster occurs according to recall procedures. 


  • Submit completed windshield survey for the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) upon arrival at the CRC.


  • Transport to the Disaster Medical Center (DMC) for medical care.


Hours will vary based on the nature of the incident but will not exceed one 12-hour shift/24-hour period for a maximum of 14 consecutive days. 


Supervision Responsibilities 


Supervise children residing at the CRC.


Training and Orientation


  • FEMA IS-100 (An Introduction to the Incident Command System)


  • FEMA IS-700 (An Introduction to the National Incident Management System)


  • CRC orientation training
