The mission of the Interpretation Team is to facilitate communication after a disaster when there are language barriers. The Team is needed especially at Meeting Places such as the Disaster Hubs, the Disaster Medical Center, the Child Reunification Center, and the Severe Weather Shelters.

Pre-Disaster Responsibilities

Before disaster, the Team develops protocols for post-disaster activation and deployment. In addition, the Team assists at any community events, such as vaccination clinics or Day of Preparedness events, where language barriers may present an obstacle.

Disaster Responsibilities

When activated, the Interpretation Team responds to assigned Disaster Hubs and Community-Level Meeting Places.

Recovery Responsibilities

During recovery, the team continues to deploy as needed for language interpretation.
