Leadership: Neighborhood Plan

At the Neighborhood Level, leadership consists of Disaster Hub leaders and Neighborhood coordinators. These leaders are in charge of ensuring coordination between the Disaster Hub and the surrounding streets for resource sharing, connecting people who have more to give with those in need. They are also in charge of the services provided at the Disaster Hubs, including First Aid, psychological support, information sent to and coming from the Emergency Operations Center, and limited temporary shelter.

Step 1. Once a facility has been selected and approved to serve as a Disaster Hub and a Memorandum of Understanding has been created, Disaster Hub leadership works with your Anytown Prepares Leadership Team to identify trained and credentialed volunteers who live in the neighborhood to serve in the Disaster Hub.

Step 2. Gather and store supplies for the Disaster Hub.

Step 3. Create a Disaster Hub setup map for the facility.

Step 4. Create Standard Operating Procedures for the Disaster Hub.

Step 5. Conduct a Disaster Hub tour for assigned volunteers.

Step 6. Conduct setup practices at the Disaster Hub.

Step 7. Lead training exercises at the Disaster Hub.

Step 8. Meet with Street Captains and Co-Captains to introduce them to the Disaster Hub and establish a working relationship with them.

Step 9. Hold a Disaster Hub Open House for residents of the neighborhood.
